This Summer, Make It Local

Make It Local is Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s flagship marketing initiative, designed to promote and celebrate businesses across the district.

Discover local experiences, independent businesses and hidden gems across Newry, Mourne and Down.
The Council has launched its ‘Make it Local’ Summer Campaign, encouraging residents and visitors to discover, enjoy and support the incredible range of local businesses, attractions, experiences and services available across the district.

Running under the strapline ‘This Summer, Make It Local’, the campaign celebrates the friendly faces behind the area’s independent businesses, from long-established favourites to exciting new ventures, while showcasing the quality, character and diversity that make our city, towns and villages special.

Whether you’re enjoying a coffee catch-up, exploring somewhere new, planning a family day out, refreshing your wardrobe or trying a new activity, there are countless ways to support local this summer.

Every local purchase, visit and experience helps support our communities, strengthens the local economy and contributes to a more vibrant, sustainable district.

The Make It Local Initiative

Through year-round promotional activity, Make It Local raises the profile of participating businesses, celebrates local enterprise and encourages consumers to recognise the value of supporting businesses on their doorstep. In doing so, the campaign helps strengthen the local economy, sustain jobs and foster vibrant communities across Newry, Mourne and Down.

How Businesses Benefit

Businesses that participate in Make It Local can access a range of promotional opportunities designed to increase visibility and drive customer engagement
Benefits include:

• Free promotion through Council marketing channels

• Free photography and videography
